After supplying some of the 1990s’ defining R&B thrills selling over 65 million records worldwide becoming the best-selling American girl group and second worldwide to the Spice Girls, TLC’s new crowdfunded self-titled studio album debuts at No. 38 on the Billboard 200.

Featuring Snoop Dogg, the album‘s first single Way Back was released on 14th April 2017 to all major digital music outlets and streaming services.

The crowdfunding project, which became the fastest most funded pop project in Kickstarter history reaching the $150,000 funding goal in less than a week, ultimately generating $430,000 making the album the fifth most-funded music project in Kickstarter’s history, came 15 years after the tragic death of band member Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes in 2002 which cut their career short.

Speaking with Time, the 90s megastars said that the crowd-sourcing move was

the natural next step in response to the current state of the music industry.

The 4,201 backers (embedded below the video of TLC’s Kickstarter campaign) include the likes of New Kids on the Block (donating $10,000), Katy Perry (donating $5,000), Soulja Boy, Bette Midler and Justin Timberlake.

TLC also announced their first ever UK tour taking to London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Bournemouth, Cardiff and Dublin between October and November 2017.
